Terras de Iria
Terras de Iria covers the municipalities of Padrón, Rois y Dodro. As a group they are known as the Sar Region. These lands, which already aroused the interest of the Romans, offer to its visitors a rich cultural, ethnographic, natural and gastronomic heritage.
In Terras de Iria the Camino de Santiago is born after the arrival of St. James the Old´s corpse to the harbor of Iria Flavia. In these lands soaked by the Jacobean culture lived two of the most important Galician authors: Rosalia de Castro and Nobel laureate Camilo Jose Cela. Sat Region is known for being a gastronomic referent thanks to the fertility of its soil where the famous Herbon peppers grow. Beside this, these lands hide an important natural ecosystems, as for example the Laiño Brañas, one of the largest wetlands of Galicia.
